You can also use your island to house various traditional kitchen staples such as a hob, a sink and even that all important wine fridge! This leaves you with plenty of open counter space in the rest of the room. Islands also have the benefit of giving you even more storage and vital extra sockets!
Visually, you have endless options for your island. Curved or straight edge? Quartz, laminate or wooden worktops? Colourwise, you can really make your island a strong focal point with a statement bright colour – whether that is the island itself or the stools that you choose, or even make it a modern classic with a chic grey or navy.
